Coupling systems: what are they and what are their main applications?
Couplings are mechanical transmission components. The main function of the coupling is the transmission of torque and rotation. He is responsible for connecting the motor shaft to the equipment that will be driven, thus transmitting the torque and rotation of the driving shaft to the shaft.
Mechanical coupling can be applied on any rotating machine and in any type of industry. It will make the connection between the drive (electric motor, combustion engine, turbine) and the driven machine (pumps, conveyors, elevators).
Coupling systems are also responsible for absorbing possible shocks and knocks from the application, in addition to accommodating existing misalignments between the shaft ends.

In general, they are the most used. This group of industrial couplings has as its main characteristic the accommodation of misalignments, which are the cause of 50% of the so-called collapse of bearings. This is because machine elements, not just bearings but also seals, seals and gears, are usually not prepared for the induced bending in the shaft.
Some differentials of flexible coupling systems:
– Flexible models usually have a quick maintenance of industrial couplings and do not require lubrication, especially those from well-known brands;
– Some flexible models are split, having the elastic center formed in two parts, which facilitates maintenance in cases of small distance between axle ends (less than 10 mm).
– The most modern models on the market make it possible to reduce noise emissions into the environment. With the advancement of technology, the new components provide greater efficiency in reducing noise from the isolation of vibrations and shocks between the engine and the machine.
